ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota stands to get more than $4 billion from the federal stimulus bill headed for a final vote in the U.S. Senate.
That's according to the state's only senator, Democrat Amy Klobuchar, who supports the bill.
Her staff has been compiling the numbers from various Washington sources. Klobuchar says the total will probably be well over $4 billion because the state can apply for grants for rural broadband service and health care information technology.
Klobuchar says the state is in line for $2 billion for health and welfare programs, $1.1 billion for schools and nearly $600 million for roads and transit.
She says tax cuts will reach more than 2 million Minnesota families.
