I usually like to walk to the Xcel Center. It is only a few blocks and there are tons of police, but I wanted to sit and get caught up with the blog.
Last night I got done with the KSTP late and missed the bus to the AgNite reception, an event sponsored by Hormel, Land O'Lakes, CHS and Rosen's--some Minnesota's best companies. Thankfully Frank Steck of Spotlight Corporate Entertainment had called earlier with to see if I wanted to go to the Ordway to see Dennis Miller. He was terrific!
This morning the Minnesota dlelgation started the day hearing from an amazing group of Republicans.
Governor and Mrs. Pawlenty thanked everyone for their support and then showed us why the majority of Minnesotans think he is great. His speech was funny, enthusiastic and a compelling argument to why the McCain/Palin ticket is a winning one.
Mitt Romney, Tom Ridge, Carly Fiorina, Rob Portman, Pete Hoekstra, Charlie Plumb and Doug McCain all spoke to us this morning. Perfect way to start the day.
We headed to Minneapolis this afternoon for a couple receptions. I took the opportunity to stop by my office with my roommate Arlys Kumpula to show her the view from the 36th floor of the IDS. John Swanson and one another delegate joined us. Turns out that John was my boss's campaign manager--the senior Representative Charles Weaver. He was thrilled to meet Charlie inperson, and Charlie of course was a great host.
We spent the rest of the afternoon touring downtown Minneapolis.
I have just arrived at the Convention. Everyone is realluy excited for Governor Palin's speech. I am still amazed to be here....
