Getting to the X was easier for my bus than it was for three other buses from our hotel that had their tires slashed. Once inside I headed for my seat which ended up to be in the third row. We opened the convention with the presentation of the colors and Miss Minnesota singing the National Anthem. There was a business tone from the National Committee members running the program and we clipped through our work pretty quickly. The day's speakers were able to rally the crowd but their message was all about taking care of the folks along the Gulf Coast.
We went on a short break so committees can take care of final business. Unfortunately, the regular concession stands were not open and lines were long and slow to get food. I grabed a couple meals to share.
I gave my delegate credentials to one of our alternates for the second half of the meeting. We've been asked to share them as much as we can. Alex Plechash was on the floor when the First Lady and Mrs. McCain addressed the crowd. I was impressed with their dedication to the country showing that Americans come first--always.
