NADEAU: Day 1

I just finished an interview with Elizabeth at KSTP. She asked me about my experience so far and we talked about the change in schedule due to the hurricane. It seems so much more appropriate to lessen the politics today and bring the needs of our country first. As a first time delegate, I talked about what an honor it is to be selected to represent the Third Congressional District and Senate District 32.

It is hot and humid and I was late for the interview (mix up on my credentials). I wonder what my hair looks like?! But now that I am done and since I do have my credentials early, and I am a delegate, I am taking the opportunity to go into the Xcel Center. Although I have to go through two security checks (with a wand), once inside I can walk around freely. The center is full of press people. I am sitting on the main floor as one of ABC's political reporters sits at a news desk for the early news show.

The X looks amazing. The neon that circles the rink shouting "SCORE" during Wild games now says "country first", which turns out to be the theme of the convention and so appropriate as we turn our focus to the Gulf Coast. Back to the convention floor, Minnesota will be sitting to the speakers' right--front row!

It is 715 a.m.

------------------
I am on the GOP express which will take us directly to the X. There is some concern and a little bit of shock towards the activities of the protesters. Taking the bus, even though the hotel is only three blocks away, seems like a good idea.

The ride took 20 minutes but we are finally here.......

It is 1:20 p.m.
