Meet the DNC's youngest delegate

Seventeen-year-old David Gilbert-Pederson is unique among the thousands of delegates filling the Pepsi Center in Denver.

He is the youngest delegate of them all.

"It's amazing to think I have this special title in this group of wonderful organizers and great people who want to change the world," he said.

David won't become eligible to vote until just before Election Day.

He told 5 EYEWITNSES NEWS he'll proudly cast his first vote for Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, a man he met when Obama campaigned for Sen. Amy Klobucar in 2006.

"As a young man of color it makes me feel like anything is possible," David explained. "It doesn't get rid of race disparities or race problems in the world, but it shows the world we're on the right track."

David is popular among the other Minnesota delegates.

He was even a featured breakfast speaker during the convention. He’s soaking it all in and even enjoying a tiny bit of celebrity status.

"Strangest interview which I kind of enjoyed was with the world wrestling entertainment…that was kind of cool," David said.

CNN, the BET Network, the Rocky Mountain News and many others have also interviewed him.

David he plans to run for office himself someday, but first he has turn old enough to vote.
