SCOTT: Second Day of the DNC

Well, last night sure was exciting, and it was great to see Hillary speak about unity and how essential it is to support Barack. It was also moving to see a republican mayor endorse publicly Obama. Over the course of the day, I was witness to many protests also. Overall, they were small in numer of participants but there were many causes that were being addressed. On my way into the Pepsi Center grounds, the walking entrance control point had a sitting protest which prevented me from getting in, and I was diverted to another local entrance. The protest was about abortion and had about 20 committed protesters, sitting in front of the entrance with fairly large signs of pictures of aborted babies in a late term. After the convention there were other various protesters, some of the prominent ones protesting that homosexuality is a threat to national security, and others were people preaching the bible with a bull horn to the delegates as we left the grounds.

All of this aside, the excitement really is building. President Clinton made an appearance as well as Mitt Romney...although Mitt was never on the floor interviewing with CNN, as he was in the press box where nobody could see him except for in the TV screens near us watching CNN.

Today is service day, and I spoke to the delegation about my service to the country at the breakfast. Later today we will be volunteering with meals on wheels. I am really looking forward to nominating Obama today. We are set to do that from 3-5 Denver time.
