Denver 2008 Convention Marketplace Ongoing at Civic Center Park, Denver, CO The 2008 Democratic National Convention Host Committee has created a unique and affordable way for Colorado to showcase its culture and diversity during the DNC. With over 50,000 people coming to Denver, this expo is a great way for you to showcase, sell, or share information on your organization. Exhibit booths are available for only $300, and open to any Colorado business.
American Presidential Experience Event is ongoing: Until Friday, August 29, 2008 at Invesco Field at Mile High, 2755 West 17th Ave, Denver The Denver 2008 Convention Host Committee brings the American Presidential Experience, the largest traveling exhibit of presidential memorabilia, into the Mile High City. Appearing for the first time in the Rocky Mountain Region, the spectacular 150,000-square-foot, non-partisan exhibit invites everyone to learn more about democracy in action through educational exhibits celebrating three centuries of presidential history. The non-partisan exhibit will include a wide variety of items and activities, including life-size replicas of Air Force One and the Oval Office, six presidential libraries (from three Republican and three Democratic administrations), a collection of first lady gowns, and celebrity book author signings.

Abortion Rally Tuesday, Aug. 25 7:30p to 9:30p Martin Luther King Park, East 38th Avenue and Newport Street, Stapleton, Denver Dr. Alveda King, niece of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and director of the African American Outreach for the Gospel of Life Ministries, will be the featured speaker at the Archdiocese of Denver's "Light in the Darkness" prayer vigil and rally against abortion. Airplane Overflights with a Focus on Energy Development Tuesday, Aug. 26 9:00a At JeffCo Airport EcoFlight will be offering aerial tours to provide media with a first-hand, bird’s-eye view of Colorado’s drilling boom. There are two scheduled flights, which can accommodate up to 8 passengers, each leaving at 9:00 AM. Flights will be approximately 1 ½ hours. This flight will highlight public lands that have been protected in the Wilderness and National Park systems, as well as roadless National Forest backcountry, currently under attack by the Bush Administration, pushing through an 11th-hour rule to undo these lands’ protections.

1908 - When the Democrats First Came to Denver Ongoing through Oct. 31 at Denver Public Library, 10 W. 14th Ave. Parkway It was 100 years ago when the Democratic donkeys first stampeded into Denver for the Democratic National Convention. The Denver Public Library and History Colorado are commemorating that event with 1908 - When the Democrats First Came to Denver, a collection of more than 100 photos, newspapers and cartoons that captured venues across the Metro area where the 1908 delegates visited. The pix and memorabilia come from Denver Public Library's Western History Department and the Colorado Historical Society and are on display on the seventh floor of the Denver Public Library, 10 W. 14th Ave. Pkwy., through Oct. 31. Hours: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays.
